What is Ethereum Classic?
Ethereum Classic (ETC) is a cryptocurrency that grew as a deviation from Ethereum after the Ethereum Foundation's decision to fork Ethereum following "The DAO" hack incident. In that incident, Ethereum's blockchain was forked to rollback the damage that had been caused by a vulnerability in The DAO's code, allowing for hackers to accumulate 3.6 million Ether of investor funds. Ethereum Classic was created by some members of Ethereum's community under the principle of maintaining an immutable blockchain. With its supporters taking a stance against Ethereum's hard fork, ETC stood as the "classic" version of Ethereum, maintaining the code-as-law principle on philosophical grounds.
