What is Zcash?
Zcash (ZEC) is a cryptocurrency with the aim of enhancing privacy of the users. It uses the zerocoin protocol which was integrated into Zcash's Zerocash system with improvements. Transactions are included in the cryptocurrency's blockchain but can optionally be made private using the protocol's features. A unique feature in Zcash's protocol is the option for parties using it for transaction to "disclose" information about their transactions for auditing purposes. Wilcox has gone on the record stating that The company behind Zcash has no interest in developing a coin for illegal transactions. Development of the system's protocols are led by the "Zerocoin Electric Coin Company" which was founded by Zooko Wilcox-O'Hearn who's also serving as CEO. Founding members include cryptographer Matthew D. Green of the Johns Hopkins university, with Roger Ver also being one of early investors.
